Plastics Technology Workshop: Recycled Plastics and Green Plastics Technologies
Date: 16 November 2017 (Thursday) Time: 14:00 Venue: FHKI
Funded by the SME Development Fund of the Trade and Industry Department, HKSAR Government, the captioned workshop was held at FHKI on 16 November 2017. This workshop highlighted the latest bottle-to-bottle technologies and advanced green technologies for plastics sector. Eric Sun, Chairman of the Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers Association (HKPMA) encouraged the local industry players to tap into the R&D in pursuit of conscious solutions on plastics waste treatment through product design and industrial manufacturing at this critical juncture when China is tightening up the import policy of solid waste and worldwide green groups are prompting a growing concern about the industrial impact on environment.
Guest speaker representing Krones AG introduced the latest ‘Bottle-to-Bottle’ technologies, which was a new technology for bottle producers to redesign and reproduce their bottles by reusing the plastics waste resin. This technology can not only save the environment, but it can also give rise to a new strategy for plastics makers to cope with their solid waste in the post-production stage. On the other hand, speakers from Ka Shui International Holdings Ltd, Witii Technology Ltd and Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd introduced the thermoset plastics recycling technology and sustainable plastic products development, which altogether rendered the audiences a full picture of green plastics manufacturing model. Around 60 participants attended the workshop.
This event is one of the deliverables under the funding project titled “Technology Advancement of Hong Kong Plastics Industry to Tap into the Opportunities under the Strategies of “Made in China 2025” and “Industry 4.0””, applied by HKPMA with FHKI as implementation agent.
